What Happens in a Reiki Session?

During a Reiki session the practitioner lays her hands either on or slightly above the body generally proceeding from head to toe. Unlike massage therapy, clients remain fully clothed and no oils or lotions are used. The client lies on a massage type table in a supine (face up) position. If desired, the final half of the treatment may be carried out with the client lying in a prone (face down) position.

The client may experience a feeling a warmth, very deep relaxation, tingling, coolness, or other sensations during the treatment as the energy makes its way to where it is needed the most.

Often the client leaves the session feeling both relaxed AND energized. He/she has a feeling of being in better control of any problems, fears, or concerns which have been bothersome.
